NXTHVN is pleased to announce the open call for its annual Studio and Curatorial Fellows. NXTHVN was founded in 2018 by Titus Kaphar and Jason Price with the core goal of establishing an alternative model of art instruction and career acceleration through specially designed courses. Each year, NXTHVN welcomes up to seven artists and two curators into its paid, intensive 10-month fellowship program. The application deadline is March 3, 2025.

Each fellow will receive studio or office space, a stipend, and subsidized housing. Fellows are selected from international applicants and relocate to New Haven to participate in NXTHVN’s mentor-driven curriculum, which includes professional development sessions led by visiting artists, curators, scholars, and practitioners. Fellows are paired with a high school apprentice for one-on-one mutual learning, giving the next generation of locals the opportunity to thrive and excel in creative fields. The fellowship year ends with an annual group exhibition in a prestigious gallery space.

By actively participating in NXTHVN’s year-long program, early career artists and curators make personal progress and build relationships that advance their careers. NXTHVN provides the foundation for artists and curators to emerge from the fellowship program as active professionals who make significant contributions to arts and culture through their creative work.

NXTHVN encourages and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds to apply for scholarships. Our admissions policies do not discriminate on the basis of age, race, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, religion, marital status, or country of origin.

In 2025, NXTHVN will welcome its seventh batch of researchers, whose term will be from August 2025 to May 2026.

    For more information, visit nxthvn.com/apply.

All application materials must be submitted online through Submittable. Selected applicants will be notified in May 2025. If you have any application questions, please send them to hello@nxthvn.com.

We look forward to welcoming the 07th class in 2025!
