A selection of paintings by British artist Katie Hackett. Hackett completed a BA in Communication Design and Film at Central Saint Martins and is currently studying for an MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art. Her practice delves into the intricate and mysterious elements of the natural world. Drawing on distant memories, sounds and places, Hackett reconstructs landscapes to create new worlds that lie at the edge of reality. The poetic scenes sometimes suggest that time stands still; other times, the subject floats freely and forms emerge. Each painting encapsulates the essence of the environments that have shaped her:
“In response to personal and found images, these ideas function as visual excavations, piecing together moments on the edge of existence, blurring the line between what is real and what exists only in the depths of memory.”
