Frieze has announced the exhibitor list for Frieze London 2024, which will feature 165 galleries from 43 countries, while Frieze Masters 2024 will feature 130 galleries from 26 countries. Both Frieze London and Frieze Masters will be slightly smaller than last year, with 166 and 136 galleries respectively participating in Frieze London 2023. The two London art fairs will take place simultaneously in Regent’s Park, London, from October 9 to 13.
This year, Frieze London will feature a new entrance and layout designed by A Studio Between, which aims to increase visibility of the fair’s curated sections. These include the return of the renowned Artist to Artist programme, where established artists select emerging talent for presentations, and the new Smoke section, curated by Pablo José Ramírez, which will showcase ceramic works that consider diaspora and indigenous histories. The fair will also emphasise “solo presentations and emerging artists at the centre to demonstrate Frieze’s commitment to the most exciting art being produced today”, said Eva Langret, director of Frieze London.
Frieze London will feature 56 London galleries, including established names such as Lisson Gallery, Victoria Miro and White Cube, as well as emerging galleries such as Rose Easton and Harlesden High Street in the Focus section. The Artist-to-Artist programme will include works by Appau Junior Boakye-Yiadom and Peter Uka, among others.
Meanwhile, Frieze Masters will work with designer Annabelle Selldorf to refine its architectural layout to encourage viewers to make connections between artworks spanning time periods.
Frieze Masters will also expand its Studio Section, curated by Sheena Wagstaff and now in its second year, with solo shows by historic artists such as Kim Yun Shin presented by Lehmann Maupin, Beatrice Caracciolo presented by Paula Cooper Gallery, and Thaddeus Mosley presented by Karmas.
Sheena Wagstaff, Creative Advisor for Frieze Masters, said: “Our new curatorial direction recognises that many artists visit Frieze Masters every year to satisfy their curiosity, refresh their minds and see how the work of their fellow artists reflects on the creative values of the past.”
