Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys have announced that their art exhibition “Giant: Art from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys” will travel the world. The exhibition debuted at the Brooklyn Museum and will first be shown at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta before moving to other museums. However, dates and other details have not yet been announced.
“Our mission has always been to make art accessible to everyone and to showcase the work of these extraordinary artists,” the Dean family said in a joint statement. “We quickly realized that this meant the collection had to reach communities across the country and around the world.”
Additionally, Swizz Beatz’s (Kasseem Dean) personal connection to Atlanta was a major deciding factor in his choice of the city. “Atlanta has been a big part of my life since I went to Stone Mountain High, Redan High, and Open Campus. I also started DJing at parties at Atrium and Club Flavors as a kid! So, bringing Giants to High is an artistic homecoming for me!” he said.
The exhibition, which will feature approximately 100 works of art, will close at the Brooklyn Museum on July 7 before traveling to other museums. “GIANTS” features works from the celebrity couple’s personal collection, including works by black diaspora artists such as Derrick Adams, Mickalene Thomas, Arthur Jafa, Kehinde Wiley, Amy Sherald and Barkley L. Hendricks. By showcasing these works, the couple intends to provide a platform for both established and emerging artists within the black community.
