Fashion legend and activist Naomi Campbell is to be honoured with an exhibition at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. The “Naomi: Fashion” exhibition will be on display from June 22, 2024 to April 6, 2025, and will showcase the model’s 40-year career in the fashion industry.
The first-of-its-kind exhibition, sponsored by BOSS, will trace Campbell’s beginnings in south London to her meteoric rise to global fame, charting her evolution as a cultural icon and style pioneer. The museum will feature around 100 of Campbell’s outfits, including a Thierry Mugler corset from 1989 and a pink Valentino ensemble from the 2019 Met Gala. It will also feature pieces from Alexander McQueen, Anna Sui, Chanel, Gianni and Donatella Versace, Jean Paul Gaultier, John Galliano, Karl Lagerfeld, Virgil Abloh, Vivienne Westwood and more.
Sonnet Stanfill, Senior Curator of Fashion at the Victoria and Albert Museum, said: “Naomi Campbell’s extraordinary career is intertwined with the very best of the world of high fashion. She is recognised globally as a supermodel, activist, philanthropist and creative collaborator, making her one of the most prolific and influential figures in contemporary culture. We are delighted to be working with Naomi Campbell on this project and to celebrate her career with our audiences.”
Another highlight of the exhibition will be Campbell’s activism and advocacy for diversity in fashion. The exhibition will showcase her contributions to organizations such as Black Girls Alliance and Diversity Alliance. In addition, the exhibition will also focus on Campbell’s current work with Arise Fashion Week and her own global project EMERGE, both of which support emerging creatives in the industry.
Naomi: In Style will also be accompanied by a publication of the same name, which will feature an exclusive interview with Campbell.
