On June 2, Sullivan+Strumpf opened a new, intimate studio space in Singapore’s Kallang district. The project space will complement the gallery’s local and international projects, showcasing works from the gallery’s warehouse or previews of future exhibitions or fair presentations.
Sullivan+Strumpf Singapore Studio will kick off with a presentation of work by Singaporean artist Kanchana Gupta, whose Australian solo exhibition will open at Sullivan+Strumpf’s Sydney space from 15 August.
After Gupta’s exhibition, the gallery will host a solo exhibition by Spanish painter Carmen Ceniga Prado in September. In addition to intimate exhibitions, the studio will host cultural events throughout the year to support Singapore’s growing art scene. The city’s art scene has been growing in recent years, not least thanks to ART SG, an art fair founded by The Art Assembly in 2023 that builds on Singapore’s reputation as a global financial hub.
“I am delighted to build on the gallery’s outstanding relationships and reputation in Asia and to lead the development of new activities on the international stage,” said Megan Arlin, Director of the new space. “Founded in 2005, Sullivan+Strumpf has been an integral part of the international art scene for nearly 20 years as one of the leading contemporary galleries in the Asia Pacific region.”
